This blog post is for Ashley's husband and Parker's father, Karl. Karl, I just wanted to let you know that Parker was in the hands of very responsible people while in Houston.

Cousin Parker

Last weekend or was it 2 weekends ago?!?... my 2nd cousin, Parker was in town to visit. She and her mom came from Oakland (NOT San FRAN) to stay with us. We had a baby shower for our other cousin who is having twin girls in October. Parker is a precious, sweet, happy baby. She eats more than any other baby I have ever seen, but I think she was thirsty because of the heat down here in the swamplands. We are excited to see her again in November for Thanksgiving.

Aunt Je Ni and Aunt La La

We had a very busy weekend with Cousin Ashley and her new baby, Parker, coming to stay with us. We had a baby shower for our other cousin who is having twins, a wedding, and a birthday celebration for Mom and Dad. It was a whirlwind, but we had a great time. Aunt Lauren and Uncle Andrew gave Julianne this cute brown and blue shirt that she looks very cute in. Julianne's Aunts are crazy for her, but does she prefer the uncles?!? She made eyes at Ryan and Andrew the entire weekend.

Ms. D

This is Ms. D who keeps Julianne on Tuesdays. She is keeping her for 3 weeks while her grandparents are in Alaska, Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle. We are sad that Gramma Babs cannot come, but we are saying prayers for Pops who is in the hospital getting some tests done on his heart.
Ms. D is a character and tells great stories of growing up in Galveston and of her husband, Willy, who is no longer with us. Julianne's favorite activity with Ms. D is having pillow fights and dancing.

Here is a bit of an update on Julianne. Julianne is nearing her 18 month mark. She is getting more and more active every day. She runs everywhere, but it looks more like floating because she tip toes while running. She is a high energy girl and does not require much sleep. She might nap for an hour to an hour and a half, but that is about it. She is enjoying her summer chasing Leo, going to the pool, and experiencing new foods now that her molars are coming in. Popcicles are a new favorite and when I say the word - she runs to the freezer. She understands pretty much everything we say and has some new words that include, Wow, Up, Jesus, Please, Thank You, etc. She is sweet natured and kisses and hugs her babies while feeding them bottles and trying to change their diaper. She does get very frustated when she cannot do something like putting the key in the lock, or putting on her own shoes. She is known to throw things across the room and scream when she is not able to complete a task. We think this comes from her father who is a highly frustrated person in general. HaHa. Her mother tends to have her moments too, so the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Justin's Aunt Donna sent me this poem recently and it hit home. I tend to get really stressed out about a lot of little things that literally don't mean anything in the big picture of life. So, I like the thoughts written below and wanted to share:

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck and I will buy you one if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not rush you to finish.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.

Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that GOD has given me the greatest gift ever given.

I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore.

And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank GOD for you, and ask Him for nothing, except one more day.............

Gramps, Jules, and Babs enjoying being outside. Jules had a yummy lemonade.

Mom and Jules on the beach. There were tons of Naval fighter pilots flying above head, but I still managed to nap while Dad held my ear shut for 45 minutes.

Julianne had a great time in Virginia for the 4th of July complete with a cook out overlooking the James River on the actual 4th, a trip to VA Beach for her first beach experience, a walk in old town Williamsburg, lots of pool time, and good bonding time with Gramps and Gramma Chatigny. Here is a picture of Dad and Jules at a restaurant where we had drinks overlooking the river as well as a ship graveyard where WWII ships are floating out in the distance.
