Great Quote for the day

Exploring

We successfully made the move to our new home in The Woodlands and on Julianne's first night she went to bed crying because she wanted to "go home." We tried to explain to her that she has a new home now and we keep talking up the giraffe that is already painted on her wall from the previous kid who lived in the room. I was really worried about her until the next morning when I heard her at about 6 am say, "Mom?" I bolted out of bed because I was having a nightmare that she had gotten up and was exploring the house without us knowing it. My nightmare was spot on! Julianne had dragged about 5 of her dolls downstairs as well as her blanket and they were all right outside the utility room door where Leo was shut in for the night. It appeared that Julianne had been laying down outside the utility room door peeking in at Leo under the crack. She must have made multiple trips up and down the stairs to bring all of her babies and animals down. Next, I noticed some lip glosses that I bought her scattered on a ledge in the entry hall - the lip gloss had been in a box up in her bathroom, so she had explored that as well. The next thing I noticed was a chick-fil-a fountain drink that I had left on a set of shelves (about 3 shelves up) and it was on the ground. I put the cup back up on the 3rd shelf and asked Julianne do show me how she got it - she then proceeded to scale the set of shelves (which could have fallen on her and it would have been a disaster)....needless to say, from now on, I shut her bedroom door when I go to bed at night. It seems her exploration helped her get adjusted though because she has been on cloud nine ever since then - enjoying the sidewalks, back porch, front porch, and neighborhood park. Some friends of ours who live around the corner came by last night and she was yelling, "Hellloooo Neighbors!"

Telling Stories and Getting out of Bed

Last night, Julianne did her nightly routine of getting out of bed about 10 times before settling down to bed. She usually says things like, "I'm hungry or I'm thirsty," but last night it was, "I'm saaaad" and I asked her why and she said, "Daddy pinched me" and when I said that Daddy was not even home, she said, "Leo bite me." I told her she was telling a "story" and she goes, "Yeahhh, a story!" So, she is getting smarter about trying to find ways to stay up at night. The good news is once she finally settles down, she stays in bed until 5:30 am or 6:30 am if we are lucky.

We move tomorrow into our new house and are excited.
